Helpful Stuff

I got this email today from an old friend. I thought it was quite intersting and then I thought there is probably someone out there in blogger world that needs to know this stuff so I'm going to share. Aren't I nice? Tell me if you've tried any or are going to try any out! My own personal comments are in red.

1. Budweiser beer conditions the hair. (I wonder if this works for all beer, or just Bud-Weis-Er?)
2. Pam cooking spray will dry finger nail polish (Who had the bright idea to try putting cooking spray on their wet nail polish?)
3. Cool whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes (Who has left over cool whip?)
4. Mayonnaise will KILL LICE, it will also condition your hair (So which were they actually trying to do first?)
5. Elmer's Glue - paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads if any (Ok, this makes a little bit of sense to me, but I am from Oklahoma)
6. Shiny Hair - use brewed Lipton Tea (will this only work on brunettes or does it not stain blonde hair like it does my plastic cups?)
7. Sunburn - empty a large size Nestea into your bath water (dang, I should've known this last week when I had a sunburn!)
8. Minor burn - Colgate or Crest toothpaste (what the heck?)
9. Burn your tongue? Put sugar on it! (Oh yeah!)
10. Arthritis WD-40 Spray and rub in, kill insect stings too (very intersting...)
11. Bee stings - meat tenderizer (um, ok. I've always just used baking soda, but whatever)
12. Chigger bite - Preparation H (do other places have chiggers or just Oklahoma?)
13. Puffy eyes - Preparation H (I saw that in that one movie that one time)
14. Paper cut - crazy glue or Chap Stick (glue is used instead of sutures at most hospitals) (chap Stick? whoda?)
15. Stinky feet - Jello! (do you just stick the stinky feet in the bowl of jello? Yeah, I'm sure that'd cover up the smell but what happens when you take your feet out?)
16. Athletes feet - cornstarch
17. Fungus on toenails or fingernails - Vicks vapor rub
18. Kool aid to clean dishwasher pipes. Just put in the detergent section and run a cycle, it will also clean a toilet. (Wow, and we drink this stuff)
19. Kool Aid can be used as a dye in paint also Kool Aid in Dannon plain yogurt as a finger paint, your kids will love it and it won't hurt them if they eat it! (is there anything you can't do with Kool Aid?)
20. Peanut butter - will get scratches out of CD's! Wipe off with a coffee filter paper (I think I've heard of this before)
21. Sticking bicycle chain - Pam no-stick cooking spray (Of course! Cake pan... bicycle chain what's the difference)
22. Pam will also remove paint, and grease from your hands!? Keep a can in your garage for your hubby (If Pam can dry fingernail polish how can it remove paint? Can it really do both?)
23. Peanut butter will remove ink from the face of dolls (I might actually have to try this)
24. When the doll clothes are hard to put on, sprinkle with corn starch and watch them slide on 25. Heavy dandruff - pour on the vinegar! (You'll smell so bad no one will care if you have flakes or not! Actually I've used vinegar on my hair before for product buildup)
26. Body paint - Crisco mixed with food coloring. Heat the Crisco in the microwave, pour in to an empty film container and mix with the food color of your choice! (sounds intersting, let me know if you've tried it before.)
27. Tie Dye T-shirt - mix a solution of Kool Aid in a container, tie a rubber band around a section of the T-shirt and soak
28. Preserving a newspaper clipping - large bottle of club soda and cup of milk of magnesia, soak for 20 min. and let dry, will last for many years!
29. A Slinky will hold toast and CD's! (That's what I use my slinkies for!)
30. To keep goggles and glasses from fogging, coat with Colgate toothpaste (um, aren't they then hard to see out of?)
31. Wine stains, pour on the Morton salt and watch it absorb into the salt. (I've heard of this)
32. To remove wax - Take a paper towel and iron it over the wax stain, it will absorb into the towel. (I'll try this someday)
33. Remove labels off glassware etc. rub with Peanut butter! (and they'll taste good too!)
34. Baked on food - fill container with water, get a Bounce paper softener and the static from the Bounce towel will cause the baked on food to adhere to it.? Soak overnight. Also; you can use 2 Efferdent tablets, soak overnight! (I've actually heard of the the fabric softner thing before)
35. Crayon on the wall - Colgate toothpaste and brush it! (Oh, I've used this!)
36. Dirty grout - Listerine (and you'll leave your bathroom smelling minty fresh!)
37. Stains on clothes - Colgate (sure, why not, works on the walls)
38. Grass stains - Karo Syrup
39. Grease Stains - Coca Cola, it will also remove grease stains from the driveway overnight. We know it will take corrosion from car batteries!
40. Fleas in your carpet 20 Mule Team Borax- sprinkle and let stand for 24 hours.
41. To keep FRESH FLOWERS longer Add a little Clorox, or 2 Bayer aspirin, or just use 7-up instead of water. (now you know!)
42. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are: Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow. So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through Saturday. (I thought this was interesting.)

I've used some of these -- like beer as conditioner. And it's true that mayonnaise is very effective for lice, and much safer than the toxic shampoos you can buy.

Some of them I am tempted to try ...

These sound so bizarre, they might be worth trying just for fun!

Okay, how does one get Rock Island Red Pizza out of your teeth and hair?

Jo(e) let me know how it turns out!

Mum, you too if you're brave enough to try them out.

Susie, I'm wondering the same thing. I wonder what MAN decided, hmm... I can't get this oil based paint off of this here whatchamacallit, I wonder if my wife's cooking spray will help.

Uncle Joe, if YOU get rock island red pizza is in YOUR hair then 1) you and aunt josefina are having way too much fun with that pizza and 2) I'm sure she'd help get it out of your hair and off your teeth for you! Just don't tell me about it when she does.

Enigma, I want to hear the details of the glue thing on Sunday!

I found the bread ties very interesting. I've often wondered about the colors and how they decided what color to use. Now I know!

You must persuade my parents to try conditioning my fur with Cool-Whip. I don't know if it would really work, but I am certain that I would find a way to enjoy it.
