There once was girl

There once was a girl
Who had a little curl
In the middle of her forehead
And when she was good
She was very very good
And when she was bad
She was horrid!!!!
I don't know who wrote this poem, but I know this little girl...

Mum, you took the words out of my mouth. Although she's nearly 21 now, my daughter is STILL this little girl.

Hi Sally, thanks for visiting my blog!

So, are you all saying that this is about all curly headed little girls or just girls in general?

I know her too - and I don't mean just girls in general...

I'm starting to see a pattern...lol

It's part of a longer poem, which I used to hear too often as a curly haired child...The heroine, Liza by name, does all sorts of appalling things but the only other bit I can remember is
"She stood on her head
On her little truckle bed
and soon she was hooraying with her heels".
Of course, kicking the walls is just the best expression of childhood fury...second only to throwing eggs (which is a great adult stress buster too, if carried out in the garden, with a helpful dog to tidy up the evidence!)

hmm...i know 3 little girls w/o curls that fit the latter half of the poem as well!

Susie, I'm sure my mom told it to me too!

Kathryn, now I'll have to find the rest of the poem!!!

HipChick, I'm starting to wonder if it doesn't fit every little girl!

Thanks ya'll for stopping by!

I noticed that no males have waded in on this question . . .

I'll make one observation - perhaps dangerously - this poem doesn't apply just to little girls (grin)

I think it we have no male perspective because most men are afraid to come to a blog with "flowers" in the name. But what do they know?!?!

Are you saying that big girls can be very very good when they're good and horid when they're bad?

Well, you know that ice you're skating on? Yeah, it's getting pretty thin there!

This was quoted to me frequently as a child. Although I was NEVER horrid! ;)

Kathryn, I didn't know it was part of a longer poem! I'll have to look that up.
